CHRISTO


Christo is a sculptor who has become world famous for wrapping thing up. He creates massive sculptural work by wrapping great landmarks and various landscapes throughout the globe. The temporary transformation into a work of art is an exciting new way of creating sculpture. His work encourages us to look at objects in a new and different way. This notion is typical of the New Realists. Christo was born in Bulgaria and moved to New York in 1964. He later became an American citizen. Some of his work includes the Running Fence comprised of white fabric running through the California hills, The Pont Neuf, a project that wrapping the Pont Neuf Bridge in Paris, and the Wrapped Islands, a project wrapping the Biscayne Bay Islands in Miami in a colorful pink fabric.
