CONNELLY

Chuck Connelly is a figurative expressionist who applies paint with confidence and an exhuberance. He paints with vigorous gesteral strokes that are at times whimsical and at other times agitaged and dark. His paintings appear playful and full of life while simultaneously expressing a sinister undercurrent. Connelly was born in 1955 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He attended the Tyler School of Art in Phildelpia and has a career which spans nearly three decades. He has had exhibitions throughout the United States and is represented in major museum collections. In addition his paintings were featured as the work of the lead character in the 1989 film New York Stories, a story of a neo-expressionist painter. Connelly lives and resides in New York City.
